Cultivating Color: Discovery Gardens

Project Details

The project brief was presented for the BLA Planting Design Studio. The objective was to design a discovery garden for the Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve that provided exciting insights into the world of horticulture. The concept was to engage guest with vibrant garden displays while exploring the world of color from the perspective of both art and science. The exterior garden approaches design principles of color theory through perennial beds that take on the form of color wheels while the interior greenhouse explores the scientific basics of visible light and the role it plays in plants.
